Dr. Ruth Chamberlain

Reverend Ruth Chamberlain is the Founding Senior Pastor of Delmarva Evangelistic Church, Inc., home of a non-denominational congregation in Salisbury, Maryland. She is also Chancellor of the Christian World College of Theology. Her many years of faithfulness to the Lord Jesus, to her husband and to her church family can't be adequately recognized in words.
Ruth was born May 10, 1930 and was raised in Virginia. After completing high school, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she studied business machines and worked in accounts receivable for Hochschild Kohn and Company.
In 1952, she married Ray Chamberlain and in 1954 they moved to Wilmington, Delaware to assist Reverend Bert Hare in building a great church complex called Faith City. Four years later, they were called to Crisfield, Maryland where they began their own ministry in a store-front church. Ray Chamberlain pastored this small flock with Ruth by his side.
Affectionately known as "Sister Ruth" to most everyone on the Eastern Shore and especially to those in the church body, through the years she has been a devoted wife, teacher, friend, mentor and counselor.
Directed by the Holy Spirit, the Chamberlains began to minister weekly in 1961 on their television program, "Evangel Hour", This ministry continued for 46 years, airing on four local television stations across the Delmarva Peninsula.
Having a heart for the missions, the Chamberlains traveled around the world holding evangelistic crusades and ministering to the lost. In 1965, they founded an orphanage and a great work in Haiti, which continues to minister and meet the needs of Haitians, caring for over 6,000 children weekly.
In 1967, they built the first portion of Delmarva Evangelistic Church in Salisbury, Maryland, complete with Sunday school classes and a bus ministry. In 1973, the sanctuary was completed and the congregation still worships there today. Ruth has taught Sunday School since the beginning. Her classes continue to be anointed, insightful, interactive and well-attended, drawing the largest of numbers.
Through the years of supporting her husband in ministry and filling the role of Associate Pastor, Ruth Chamberlain managed the office staff, wrote and directed Christmas and Easter pageants aannually and filled the roles as music and drama director and church organist.
In October 1988, she was ordained by her husband. She obtained her Bachelors of Theology in 1989 and her Masters in Theology in 1992 from Christian Life School of Theology, a college established as part of the many faceted ministry of the church.
In 1998, the Chamberlains added the Christian Community Center, which houses the Delmarva Evangelistic Church offices and the Christian Community Child Care Center. The facility also includes a gymnasium/auditorium, banquet room and breakout rooms for the entire Christian Community.
In 2006, Reverend Ruth Chamberlain was granted an honorary Doctorate of Ministry Degree from Logos Christian College. She holds both an individual and a church membership with the Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministers International.
